Job Description

Microchip's USB and Networking Group (UNG) is looking for a Technical Staff Engineer - Architect to join our ASIC team developing world-class USB, Ethernet, and PCIe solutions serving the Automotive, Industrial, Enterprise, and 5G markets. In this key Architecture position you will collaborate with others in Architecture, Design, and Marketing to specify our next-generation chip architectures and implementations. You will represent Architecture in cross-functional development teams, and support design and manufacturing of these next-generation products. You will also work closely with key people in Marketing to help shape our roadmap.

Job Requirements
  • Responsibilities:
    • Generating architecture specifications and providing detailed technical design guidance for US and international chip design teams
    • Supporting Marketing in defining new semiconductor products, as well as product and technology roadmaps
    • Supporting key customer engagements to refine future product definition, and occasional pre-sales support
    • Staying current with latest standards body activities and industry trends
  • Job requirements:
    • BS in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
    • Strong expertise with PCIe and embedded CPU systems
      • Additional expertise with USB and/or Ethernetis a plus
    • Foundational understanding of chip design and manufacturing processes
  • Years Experience
    • 12-15 years related experience in PCIe, CPU systems, data communications, and chip design
  • Skills
    • Ability to author large engineering specifications, present complex topics to a technical audience, problem-solve, and build consensus
    • Demonstrated ability to work with globally-distributed development teams
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
