General Purpose and Scope of Position:

As a Sr. Innovation Scientist, your expertise will allow you to deliver customer-centered products and solutions by collaborating with cross-functional business partners including sales, production, procurement, laboratory services, and food safety/quality. Leveraging your technical skills and working alongside technical sales, you'll make a direct impact on the business to help our pet partners flourish. Along the way, you'll be guided by our deep-rooted culture and have the support and tools you need to do your job, learn, grow, and succeed.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • MS or PhD in a technical field (chemistry, biology, food science, animal science, etc.)
  • 4-6 years of Laboratory, Product Development or Product Innovation experience in a food, pet, beverage, agricultural or related industry
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Ability to work hands-on in a laboratory setting
  • Up to 15% travel
  • Knowledge of pet food ingredients and oxidation chemistry (Preferred)
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make business decisions through interpretation of data from well-designed research (Preferred)
  • Ability to lead projects autonomously and assist in commercialization (Preferred)

  • You can create well-written reports and technical bulletins to articulate research results
  • You have knowledge of pet food production, regulations, and/or rendering processing
  • You are tenacious, dedicated, and thrive working with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Driving the development of new products and solutions for pet food and rendering customers
  • Validating the efficacy of the current ingredient portfolio and providing research technical bulletins
  • Executing plant trials, tests, and scale-ups
  • Qualifying new ingredients as part of product development, business continuity, and cost savings
  • Providing field support for onsite customer projects
