What you will be doing

  • Provides cost estimating support on complex and FFP proposals and contracts with the primary responsibility to evaluate estimate realism and risk through consideration of contract type and prior related contract performance.
  • Ensures cost estimates are developed in accordance with the request for proposal (RFP) specifications, meet overall corporate policies and objectives.
  • Successfully partner and communicate effectively with stakeholders to gain understanding of their needs and to convey and interpret the results.
  • Participates as a member of proposal teams, supports contract negotiating teams, participates with management on proposal planning, and may make internal and external presentations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Prepares cost proposals using spreadsheets and ProPricer software in accordance with Company's pricing policies and procedures.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of making or buying products and to establish price objectives for contract transactions.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations regarding basis of estimate clarity and completeness.
  • Ensures proposal compliance with FAR, DFARS, TINA and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Supports audits and negotiations of proposals.
  • Enters/imports pricing inputs into ProPricer.
  • Aligns with Customer Account Manager (CAM) and Product Line Manager (PLM) in preparation of cost proposals.
  • Participates in the review and analysis of proposals, participates in fact finding and supports negotiations.
  • Provides support in cost and pricing reviews with management and customer representatives.
  • Generates detailed pricing using the estimates, pricing model, and proposal structure, in alignment with the pricing strategy; and facilitates pricing strategy reviews/discussions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and five or more years of experience in finance, accounting, or business administration in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of pricing and purchasing theories, concepts and principles.
  • Must possess working knowledge of ProPricer software.
  • Must possess project management skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones.
  • Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret complex data and develop solutions to a variety of highly complex problems; (2) excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings; (3) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (4) the ability to represent the company as a knowledgeable resource on external projects; and (5) excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential.
  • Ability to analyze and solve a variety of moderately complex pricing problems.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be organized and capable of handling multiple tasks at once.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
