Job Description

Job Summary


The Talent Acquisition Specialist will achieve staffing objectives by assisting in the implementation of the Company’s hiring process in recruiting and building a qualified candidate pool in order to efficiently and effectively fill open positions.  The Talent Acquisition Specialist will source, interview, select, hire and coordinate pre-employment and onboarding of new employees within the defined recruitment cycle time, ensuring a consistent quality of candidates while staying within the parameters set for the recruitment budget and ensuring compliance with statutory laws and Company policy.  The Talent Acquisition Specialist reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager.

  • Source active and passive candidates for employment.
  • Post positions to appropriate job search engines and industry websites.
  • Use social and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates.
  • Build applicant sources by researching and contacting professional and industry associations, colleges, and community services, employment agencies, and recruiters
  • Attend Job Centers and Career Fairs making presentations, providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; and maintaining rapport and building relationships with candidates
  • Intake & Review applications and qualifications to determine the suitability of candidates
  • Conduct pre-screen interviews, vet and select applications for interviews as determined by applicant requirements as stated in the job description and qualifications
  • Handle a high volume of telephone calls and walk-in customers
  • Arrange interviews, compiles reports, composes letters, and handle special projects as directed
  • Advise and provide guidance to Supervision on legal or regulatory compliance
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Coordinate the interview process, plant tour, and evaluate candidates based on a consistent set of qualifications.  Brief and debrief candidates before and after interviews
  • Confer and advise Supervision in selecting candidates.  Prepare offer packages and rejection letters
  • Coordinate and schedule post-offer, pre-employment (POPE) testing
  • Coordinate and schedule pre-employment medical and drug testing
  • Prepare confidential documents, correspondence and retrieve employee information
  • Coordinate draft of new hire job assignments
  • Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding, including the creation of new hire packets
  • Assist with internal and external job postings
  • Conduct new hire check-ins
  • Serve as a vacation backup to Talent Acquisition Manager
  • Partner with HR Staff on other projects and duties
  • Perform other projects, duties, and tasks as assigned
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed
    • During peak recruiting times of the year, additional hours may be required to accommodate candidate interviews, job fairs, or other recruiting events.  Generally limited, but some weekend hours may be required.


Expected Areas of Competence (KSAs)
 
  • Knowledge of full life cycle recruiting, candidate sourcing, and applicant tracking.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without close supervision, produce quality work, and handle periodic special projects independently, while maintaining focus and sense of urgency in an environment with frequent interruptions and a high-level varied activity.
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR processes and procedures is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work with accuracy and have a proven work history of accurate, precise work.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile reports from various spreadsheets and databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively work with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work within mandatory time frames.
  • Must maintain the utmost level of confidentiality due to the sensitivity of the work in this department.


This position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas.  Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • One to two years of human resources recruiting experience preferred.
  • An Associate’s Degree in Business.  Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.


Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's Human Resources operations.  

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel to career fairs and job centers.
