Job Description

Job Summary


The Industrial Engineer Level 2 works to maintain our cost and incentive system maintenance along with completing project work.  At this level the Industrial Engineer’s day will compose around 60% standards engineering and 40% industrial engineering work.  This split of work duties helps ensure good process understanding along with developing the fundamental skills of an Industrial Engineer.  The importance of this work is essential by ensuring accurate costing of our products along with providing important improvement recommendations.

Depending upon the work load, the Industrial Engineer will assist with the VKS system, estimating costs, statistical analysis and AutoCad layout work are possible.  Key metrics for this position are the average no rate and rate verification metrics and preparing the Industrial Engineer for Level 3.

  • Assist Industrial Engineers with incentive system requests by applying accepted Industrial Engineering work measurement techniques in accordance with the company policy and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • Assist with cost maintenance.  This includes going though work orders, pulling rates in cost and updating any necessary documentation.
  • Create and maintain VKS guidebooks.
  • Assist or lead continuous improvement projects which can include being on a team or working alone.
  • Be able to complete work measurement studies manually and using UMT software.  Complete any necessary documentation where required.
  • Complete Neenah Foundry Orange and Green belt continuous improvement certifications when offered.
  • Investigate reasons for system inefficiencies and recommend solutions based upon the results of the investigation.
  • This position works with finishing, core room supervision and the hourly workforce.  Most of these daily interactions are by email, face-to-face or by phone.
  • Complete other related projects as assigned.


Expected Areas of Competence (KSAs)
 
  • Basic PC-based computing experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and influencing skills is required.
  • Basic knowledge of production processes and material flow is preferred.
  • Ability to apply logic and deductive reasoning in order to recommend alternative solutions to problems is preferred.
  • Highly detail oriented; checks own work, keeps accurate records, organizes information effectively is preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of: taking initiative, ability to handle multiple priorities, meeting commitments and propose creative solutions to problems to achieve business results is preferred.
  • High level of energy, personal accountability and integrity.
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated application of Lean Six Sigma tools at a Green belt level is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, such as Process Sheets, MSDS sheets, and other related documents.

Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience required.
  • Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement certification training (preferred but not required).
  • Previous experience working with computer applications such as AutoCad, VKS or UMT (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to write and speak Spanish or French (preferred but not required).



Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's operations.  

Travel Requirements

Travel up to ten (10) % may be required.
