Job Requisition ID:R00013017Job Category:Health SystemOrganization:2 WestLocation/s:Main Campus JacksonJob Title:Student Nurse Tech II- Medical Surgical - 2 West - PTJob Summary:Under the direct supervision of an RN, the UMMC student nurse tech program will allow nursing students, who are actively progressing through an accredited school of nursing, to float to designated clinical areas and provide direct and indirect patient care which has been mastered through their accredited school of nursing and as outlined per UMMC job description. The program consists of three (3) levels which expand as students complete clinical competencies in nursing program. SNT will be UMMC employees in ac positions, based out of the UMMC adult float pool and children's hospital units and will be utilized as all allocated employees; based on cost per unit of service. Student nurse techs will work in designated areas to strengthen critical thinking skills, learn time management and clinical practice and transition to future position of registered nurse. Student nurse techs may continue to participate in nurse extern program and will resume SNT position after completion.Education & ExperienceMust be actively enrolled and progressing full time in an accredited RN nursing program and have completed three (3) semesters of clinical coursework with a minimum GPA of 2.5, or have completed a student nurse externship. Must be able to provide an official transcript each semester to the office of nursing services to verify continued enrollment in an accredited nursing program.

Must provide letter of recommendation from clinical instructor verifying student is in good standing in nursing program and successfully progressing through nursing program.
