Job Description
Purchasing Analyst – Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)
 
Support the Value Engineering team’s efforts to identify and eliminate waste with a focus on current product designs. The scope will include material acquisition through final production with this position acting as a key liaison between Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.
 
Responsibilities
  • Estimate cost savings potential of identified VA/VE initiatives.
  • Recommend supplier selection based on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Integration criteria.
  • Interpret VA/VE study results to provide timely, accurate, and concise summaries that drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with the Divisional sourcing strategies; utilizing existing/preferred suppliers and receiving direction from Commodity Managers.
  • Quantify costs from a total cost of ownership (TCO) perspective across supply chain to help identify opportunities to remove waste.
  • Develop & review RFQ and RFP’s consistent with Divisional best practices and policies.
  • Represent Supply Chain on VA/VE team and serve as cross-functional liaison.
  • Coordinate the implementation of identified cost savings initiatives with support from Supply Chain and Operations while minimizing disruptions to production and exposure to inventory obsolescence.
  • Monitor and report actual savings post VA/VE initiative execution.
  • Process purchase requisitions and manage supplier communications.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned.
 
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree; concentration in Supply Chain or Operations Management is a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 + years of experience as an individual contributor in Purchasing or Supply Chain function.
  • Change management experience gained in a lean manufacturing or six sigma environment is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of how supply chains work and ability to assess cost drivers of industrial processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; with strong networking, influencing, and communication skills; and to drive effective project execution.
  • Team player who can successfully interact with internal and external organizations and effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a timely manner to ensure positive results.
  • IFS experience or working knowledge of other ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills inclusive of all Microsoft Business Suite required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
