Job Description

Job Summary


The Safety Technician will provide safety support to production and corporate personnel, develop safety and health programs and objectives, coordinate safety training programs, and monitor safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.

  • Provide technical safety and health support and information to production and corporate personnel.
  • Develop and prepare written safety and health programs and policies.
  • Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs.
  • Participate in new product/process reviews including process hazard analyses, Operator Training, etc.
  • Support corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Support plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Gather, review, update and distribute safety statistics and reports.
  • Develop, create, change and revise policies, procedures and training documents.
  • Manage MSDS online system for updates of records.
  • Lead incident investigations, resulting in root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support plant management and supervisory personnel in technical aspects of OSHA and safety requirements.
  • Maintain an up to date list of all trained contractors.
  • Maintain action items registers as needed.
  • Coordinate safety related purchases.
  • Work during each shift as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas.  Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned. 


Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related Engineering field required.
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification a strong plus.


Physical Requirements

A substantial amount of time will be spent in the Foundry walking, interacting with employees and equipment. 

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's operations.  

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel is anticipated with this position.
