Job Description

Job Summary


The HR Manager is directly responsible for the overall labor relationships, administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources functions of the facility.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and administers various human resources procedures for all facility personnel.
  • Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Administers and annually updates compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing; writes and places job postings.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, business communications, data summaries, and other documents.
  • Takes a lead role in employee relations with workforce – gathers data, conducts investigations, reports findings, etc.
  • Facilitates wellness initiatives.
  • Maintains compliance to the company EEO policy, affirmative action plan and applicable labor and employment laws.
  • Supports inquiries related to benefits, retirement, compensation, etc.
  • Leads routine HR projects including communications, conducting meetings, tracking results, reporting.
  • Administers training programs.
  • Manages unemployment claims, appeal decisions and participates in appeal hearings.
  • Manages contractors and vendors relative to programs provided by the company employee relations efforts such as; uniforms, vending services, etc.
  • Manages the Worker’s Compensation process, including filing claims, maintaining files, and participating in claims management meetings.

This position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas.  Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Labor Relations or related field required.
  • 5+ years related HR experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM PHR Certification desired.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's operations.  

Travel Requirements

Approximately 5% travel to recruiting events or corporate meetings.
