JOB SUMMARY:

Sets up and operates CNC Milling Centers to machine a diversified line of metallic parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs development work on new products and assists Engineering in process development.

  • Trains CNC machinists of lower classifications.

  • Works from complicated and involved sketches, routings, and product specifications.

  • Sets up, adjusts, verifies programming, and operates CNC Milling Centers and tools to machine complex and diversified operations.

  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories.

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and chunk pressure. Edits CNC media/programs as necessary.

  • Conceptualizes multiple axis movement, up to and including five axis.

  • Recognizes and corrects process variations, operational and tooling sequences, tool offsets, dimensional and finish deviations.

  • Operates multiple machines concurrently in order to maximize efficiency and effectively utilize resources.

  • Maintains close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications.

  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications through the use of various inspection measuring equipment, including bore gages, rail gages, and ID and OD micrometers. Utilizes SPC charts to report variations in processes.

  • In coordination with the Maintenance Department, performs preventive maintenance on CNC Milling equipment.

  • Proceeds with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and conformity with Ace Precision Quality System work instruction requirements that govern CNC Milling operations.

  • Maintains or exceeds production standards through efficient organization and planning.

  • Follows and complies with safety policies and procedures.

  • Accurately completes all required documentation.

  • Meets attendance policy requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree in mechanical drawing, shop mathematics, and machining processes, with minimum three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read English and interpret sketches, routings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other Company stakeholders.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Requires ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions.


REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires considerable initiative and decision making judgment.
