Primary Objectives of a CDL Driver
•    Drive any combination of vehicles with GVW of 26,001 or more pounds
•    Transport and deliver goods

Primary Responsibilities of a Class A Driver
•    Perform daily checklists on vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, report vehicle defects or damage to the vehicles
•    Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
•    Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered, and collect payment for services when required
•    Check all load-related documentation (including bills of lading) to ensure that it is complete and accurate
•    Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. Operate hydraulic lift gates safely
•    Secure cargo for transport, using wedges and straps. Ensure safety when inspecting
•    Drive trucks to weigh stations along routes, to comply with state regulations
•    Use cellphones to exchange information with supervisors or other drivers. Ensure hands free communication while operating vehicle
•    Perform basic vehicle maintenance including adding oil, fuel, and radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs
•    Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any powered equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary
•    May be required to manually carry loads inside residences
•    Responsible for following all safety rules and policies as outlined by the DOT and communicated by Bliffert Lumber management
•    Responsible for following all general housekeeping practices as communicated by manager
•    Practice and perform excellent service for all customers
•    Protects company values by keeping financial information and plans confidential
•    Report Injuries to manager immediately
•    Drive safely and responsible, immediately report any accidents or traffic violations
•    Additional job responsibilities to be determined by Manager
•    Sorting, stocking, and moving lumber and building materials
•    Fill orders
•    Loading supplies for customers
•    Operate power tools, saws, and chainsaws
•    Read special orders from sales people
•    Read instructions from supervisors or sales people in handling customer requests and safety procedures in the workplace
•    Read carefully the products labels, warnings, and directions posted in the products and warehouse
•    Complete inventory sheets
•    Read invoices and orders
•    Read and follow work schedules
•    Enter number entries in loading sheets
•    Look in the charts for the weights of forklifts that can carry and lift
•    Sorting, stocking, and moving lumber and building materials
•    Fill orders
•    Loading supplies for customers
•    Operate power tools, saws, and chainsaws


Requirements of the Class A Driver
•    Reports to the location manager and foreman
•    Daily travel with company vehicle
•    Occasional out of state travel
•    Lifting up to 125 lbs
•    Report for random drug and alcohol when selected in pool
•    Maintaining CDL Class A or B license
•    Pass and report Fed Med
