Job Description

Job Summary


The Plant Logistics Manager will develop and execute distribution plans for Product Groups of Neenah Foundry Co. and provide direct leadership for the daily execution of business goals for the shipping departments in Neenah.  The role will act in support of, and in consultation with the Outside/Inside Sales, Account Management, Customer Service, Operations, Human Resources, and Finance departments and drive critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Productivity, Inventory Accuracy and Schedule Attainment. 

Specific goals including; Safety, Fill Rates, On Time Shipping, Inventory Accuracy and Turns, Monthly Sales, and Fair Employment practices will be key measures of success in this role.  This role also serves as a focal point for the Municipal SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operating Plan) process in the area of Distribution from our Neenah locations.

  • Lead/manage a team of both salaried and union employees.
  • Direct all activities associated with outbound shipments ensuring the timely shipment of scheduled customer orders, planning transportation loading schedules, and providing order shipment status updates.
  • Analyze shipping department performance, identify opportunities, provide recommendations for process and equipment improvement, establish goals and execute strategy.
  • Set and achieve goals related to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Productivity, Inventory and Schedule Attainment KPI’s.
  • Create and drive key plant logistics standards.
  • Accurately manage finished goods inventory at the Neenah plant sites.
  • Develop a working relationship with Customer Service, Field/Inside Sales, Shipping, Operations and 3rd Party freight provider.
  • Ensure team is properly trained on all equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations and waste control.
  • Assist in the execution of IT strategies and implementations to improve the Distribution system.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all team members.

Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Management, or related field(s) of study.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in distribution, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Management/supervisory experience with a record of delivering results through people by delegating and enabling.
  • Able to demonstrate strong planning and analytical skills / experience.
  • A demonstrated record of accomplishment in implementing successful distribution processes and improvements, including formulating and tracking metrics.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's Operations.  

Travel Requirements
 
  • Up to 5% overnight travel may be required for position.
