Job Description

InSinkErator, the world's largest manufacturer of disposers and hot water dispensers, is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Technician to work in its Racine, WI manufacturing location.

JOB SUMMARY

The AST 4 will provide set up and operation support of all automated manufacturing systems and associated equipment in an assigned cell within our manufacturing plant. Cell areas include: Welders/Stakers, Assembly, or Pack. Support includes: technical support for our manufacturing equipment, troubleshooting, equipment operation and repair, resolving day to day issues, problem solving, machine and manufacturing process issue resolution, root cause analysis, preventive maintenance (PM's), and corrective actions. The AST 4 will also monitor, adjust, and repair all equipment to ensure quality parts are produced.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up and operate all automated manufacturing systems and associated equipment
  • Calculate and adjust operations to meet specifications and tolerances
  • Perform routine repair activities using specific repair and maintenance techniques and practices
  • Assist outside vendors or contractors to maintain, repair or upgrade equipment
  • Coordinate required maintenance for all machines within assigned cell, including identifying, verifying and ordering parts needed for maintenance
  • Utilize advanced troubleshooting experience and techniques to provide support to fellow ASTs within cell
  • Work independently with little to no direction to determine and implement corrective actions on equipment and processes
  • Ensure proper safety procedures are in use and are utilized and followed at all times
  • Detect and assess problems: resolve, debug and troubleshoot to provide solutions to equipment breakdowns and reliability issues
  • Perform equipment start up and shutdown, modifications and upgrades, on responsible equipment
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns as required
  • Provide support to improve equipment operations and performance
  • Maintain all production equipment in good clean functioning condition
  • Full use of PM methods in planned and unplanned maintenance requests
  • Provide adequate training for AST 1's and 2's in assigned cell
  • Understand and analyze interactions between all components and systems: fluid power, mechanical, servo, and electrical for proper function
  • Full understanding of computer-controlled machine programming: working knowledge of PLC, in-depth understanding of programmable controllers
  • Assist in installation of new equipment and sub-assemblies, assist with and complete equipment rebuilds
  • Ability to read and understand electrical wiring block and schematics, machine drawings, equipment layout drawings and other associated drawings and resources
  • Solid clear communication with Supervisors, peers, and subordinates in oral, and written formats in a professional manner
  • Use of digital dashboard for fault review, starve / block, trends, analysis

Additional Information

This position works in a manufacturing plant environment, with exposure to noise, vibration, oils, lubricants, and other chemicals.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years' work experience required in a mechanical or technical area where machinery, mechanical, electrical, or electronic maintenance work was performed
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with PLC interface / Programming
  • Basic robotic knowledge - functions and program
  • Experience in advanced repair and maintenance techniques / practices, equipment troubleshooting and problem solving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in electromechanical technology or similar area
  • Post high school technical training in 2 areas: electrical, electronic, pneumatics, mechanic, PLC
