Job Description

Maintenance Technician- 2nd Shift

Retention Incentive Eligible

$2,000 total payout after 12 months of Employment*

$500 payable following 4 months /$500 payable following 9 months

$1,000 payable following 1 year of employment with the Company

Essential Functions

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Fabricate, disassemble and assemble production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot/repair processing, filling and packaging production equipment.
  • Weld, perform sheet metal work and employ basic shop floor skills (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools).
  • Install, move, and relocate machinery/equipment according to blueprints and other drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of three to five years' experience in an industrial maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices
  • Experience in inspection of all included above and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection
  • Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity
  • Knowledge of PLC's and frequency drives and the ability to troubleshoot.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP's and SQF audits would be valuable
  • Ability to work safely and follow all safety rules and criteria.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of associates
  • Ability to use CMMS systems and other computer software.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Work Environment

  • Our environment is clean and temperature controlled.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment constitutes hearing protection.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
