Job Purpose: The Welder/Fabricator will perform all position welding on complicated weldments and structures to produce a variety of company products in accordance with customer specifications. This is a full-time, 1st shift position with weekly overtime. Hours vary from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM with some Saturday mornings.
Job dutiesinclude the following.
Education and/or Experience: Requires education generally equivalent to 4 years of high school and 1 to 3 years related experience in welding operation and set up procedures.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Should hold an AWS and/or ASME welding certifications. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written materials relating to welding set up and operation and safety procedures.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and use simple shop calculations to set up and perform welding work.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with simple problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OtherSkills And Abilities: The employee must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints. The employee must possess the ability to operate a wide variety of equipment such as hand tools, side cutters, welding machines, cutting torches and plasma, overhead and jib cranes, bandsaws, and grinders.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Protective Clothing Required: The employee must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection, protective clothing, leather gloves, hard hat, and a welding helmet, as required.
Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in proximity to airborne fumes or particles. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, in proximity to toxic or caustic chemicals, near sources of electric shock, and near sources of vibration.The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
