Core Operation workers are responsible for the production, assembly and inspection of sand cores within the Core Department. As the designated Team Leader, Core Operation controls and maintains the speed and accuracy of each core assembly for each machine during an assigned shift. Core Operation workers wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as cores are constructed from sand and, in some cases, are joined and/or fitted together. Core Operation workers will be required to act as Core Support for other teams depending on the complexity and production requirements of other orders. This role is an entry-level opportunity and does not require any previous experience. The position does offer the opportunity for cross training and experience in a variety of tasks related to core production.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Practice high level of safety at all times
Handle cores up to 50 lbs.
Operate pneumatic and hand hoists
Operate fork lift
Read and follow process sheets
File and possess strong attention to detail
Inspect cores for any defects and repair cores as needed
Load cores in and out of oven
Store cores on racks
Assemble cores
Label and identify cores with rack tags
Responsible for machine lock out/tag out
Maintain cleanliness of core machines and production area
Use air hammers, vibratory tools, and basic hand tools
Education/Experience Requirements:
No previous experience required, we will train you!
No educational requirements
Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time
Must actively engage in safe working practices
Must be able to tolerate hot working conditions and a loud environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be at least 18 years old to apply
Previous foundry experience a plus
Shifts:
Must be available to work 8-10 hour shifts
Must be available for overtime as production needs require, scheduled up to 58 hours/week
Monday – Thursday and overtime on Fridays. Some Saturdays required.
Typical shift hours
2nd shift: 2:00 pm – 12:00 am
Pay rate for Core Operations:
Base pay rate of $20.95, 2nd shift premium: $0.70
2nd shift pay rate: $21.65
Base rates increase $1.00/hour upon successful completion of probation (60 working days)
