Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology. Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Successfulcompletion of a drug screen and background check is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Engineering Intern to join our team in our Chantilly, VA location. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission. The selected intern will join the Nuclear Monitoring Programs. General Dynamics provides operational support and maintenance of the Radionuclide Stations in the United States International Monitoring System (US IMS) supporting the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

The tasking for the internship will include several tasks to support the Operation andMaintenanceof remote monitoring stations that comprise the United States network. One primary task will include the update to documentation tasks for these monitoring stations.

  • Mandatory proficiency in Microsoft Visio.
  • Familiarity with Linux or ability to learn basic Linux commands
  • Basic mechanical and electrical experience to understand site specific schematics and review existing documentation.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
