Job Description
Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical production and associated equipment plant-wide

Essential Functions:
 
  • Inspects plant equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, unusual noises, insufficient lubrication and RPM’s.
  • Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production and performs PM inspection and repairs. Complete various reports.
  • Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continues operation will have no harmful defect.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates mechanical equipment.
  • Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Makes either temporary or permanent repairs.
  • Assembles and aligns gears, bearing and shafts involving the application of press, sliding and running files.
  • Operates simple machine tools such as drill press, pipe cutting, threading machine and power saws.
  • Installs and repairs pipes, fittings, drains and other pipefitting work relative to the trade.
  • Erects scaffolds and performs simple rigging as necessary.
  • Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.
  • Works with outside repair crews as directed on emergency breakdowns or installations.
  • Keeps work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done.

Expected Areas of Competence:
 
  • Ability to use drill press, portable drill, power saws, chain hoists, burning and welding equipment, grinders, block and tackle, measuring devices, hydraulic jacks, ladders, scaffolds, bearing pullers, pipe cutter and threader, lubrication equipment, fork truck and drawings, and equipment catalogs
  • Knowledge of tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and their applications.
  • Use of forklifts and platform power trucks.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information for all relevant sources.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Education and Experience Requirements: 
  • One to two years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Shifts:
  • Must be available for overtime as production needs require.
Pay rate:
  • Base pay rate of $18.56
Physical Requirements:
 
  • Ability to work overtime and weekend shifts.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Travel Requirements:
 
  • No travel anticipated with this position.
