The Molding Operator utilizes a molding machine to produce sand molds which are utilized in the process to make quality iron products.
Essential Functions -
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on the tools and production equipment daily to ensure safe operating condition.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on the molding machines or surrounding area on a daily basis to ensure a safe work environment and an acceptable productivity level.
• Complete production requirements on a daily and weekly basis.
• Become trained in Lock-out/Tag-out and other applicable safety programs as required.
• Use hand tools such as hammers & wrenches etc. safety and properly.
• Perform and assist with general housekeeping and clean-up of area, department and plant on a daily basis.
• Keep work area clean, organized and in safe operating condition; eliminate tripping hazards.
• Ensures pattern is set-up according to the schedule and makes required pattern changes throughout the day.
• Aligns flasks by pushing or pulling flasks, adds required sand, jolts, squeezes and draws mold using the machine control panel.
• Clean loose sand from mold using air wand; avoid injury to self and others in work area.
• Set cores as needed and inspect the mold to ensure quality by checking for stickers, crushes or lettering problems.
• Communicate mold problems to lead person and/or supervisor.
• Use an air hoist to transport cores or patterns.
• Inspect hooks, slings, chains, cranes and hoists used in production to ensure they are in safe operating condition and lifting devices are not used in excess of weight limits.
• Close the mold by pushing and pulling flask to achieve proper pin placement.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on the molding machines or surrounding area on a daily basis to ensure a safe work environment and an acceptable productivity level.
• Trained in Lock-out/Tag-out and other applicable safety programs as required.
• This position may continuously require lifting or moving of objects weighing 5-50 lbs.
• Other activities as may be assigned in order to maintain production requirements of the department or plant. Work assignments will be made at the discretion of management.
Education/Experience –
• No previous experience required, we will train you!

• Must be able to read, communicate and understand instructions in the English language
• Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time
• Must actively engage in safe working practices
• Must be able to tolerate hot working conditions and a loud environment
• Must be comfortable working in small spaces
• Previous experience utilizing basic hand tools, hoists, and tape measure preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be at least 18 years old to apply
• Previous foundry experience a plus
