Job Description: The Metal Finisher role is responsible for removing any excess metal from castings by chipping, grinding, or vibrating them off. This role is an entry-level opportunity and does not require any previous experience. The position does offer the opportunity for cross-training and experience in a variety of tasks related to production.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Practice high level of safety at all times
Maintain cleanliness of work station, tools, and PPE
Chip, grind, and vibrate excess materials off castings using pneumatic tools such as pencil grinders, cup grinders, cone grinders, cutting wheels, chipping hammers, stand grinders, and vibrators. Hammers and other tools may be used
Complete full visual inspections of all castings. Rework or scrap defective castings
Operate air hoists to move parts over 50 lbs.
Follow process sheets to complete part to customer specifications
Roll or turn castings when necessary to make surfaces accessible
Prep finished castings for packaging
Responsible for completing abrasive and chisel changes
Inspect tools for their condition and ensure correct guarding is utilized
Some minor tool maintenance will be required
Must attend and participate in stretching exercises twice per shift
Record work activity in the time management system
Attend weekly safety meetings
Education/Experience Requirements:
No previous experience required, we will train you!
No educational requirements
Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time
Must actively engage in safe working practices
Must be able to tolerate hot working conditions and a loud environment
Must be comfortable working in small spaces
Must be comfortable with the intense physical demands of the position
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be at least 18 years old to apply
Previous foundry experience a plus
Shifts:
Must be available to work 8-9 hour shifts
Must be available for overtime as production needs require
Monday – Friday, some Saturdays required
Typical shift hours:
1st shift: 3:45 am – 1:00 pm, 4:45 am – 1:00 pm
2nd shift: 12:45 pm – 9:00 pm, 2:45 pm – 1:00 am
Pay rate:
Base pay rate of $16.20, 2nd shift premium: $0.70
1st shift pay rate: $16.20
2nd shift pay rate: $16.90
Base rates increase $0.50/hour upon successful completion of probation (60 working days)
