Job Description

Job Summary


The Environmental Services Director ensures environmental compliance and safe working conditions. This position will be responsible for implementing and overseeing all environmental programs and activities in order to ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Manage all plant environmental compliance activities.
  • Develop environmental policies and procedures to assure legal compliance for EPA, OSHA, records and training requirements.
  • Keep up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives including international legislation where applicable.
  • Implement best tools and systems to monitor performance and to implement strategies.
  • Assess and analyze environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage environmental strategy budgets.
  • Assess training needs and develop and administer training programs for all employees.
  • Periodically review and/or revise Job Hazard Analyses as related to environmental compliance as appropriate.
  • Communicate regular updates regarding environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate periodic monitoring of exposures to noise, airborne particles, and other exposures as necessary.
  • Carry out site assessments to determine environmental impact of commercial activity.
  • Develop and implement continuous environmental improvements in the areas of air emission, solid waste, water use, and energy use reductions.
  • Conduct air and water permitting activities with state agencies to facilitate the construction or modification of plant emission sources.
  • Facilitate the beneficial reuse of industrial by-products in lieu of landfill disposal.
  • Correspond with the public, state and federal agencies to communicate the Company’s environmental activities.

This position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas.  Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • B.S. Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.

Physical Requirements
 
  • Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must actively engage in safe working practices
  • Must be able to tolerate hot working conditions and a loud environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the Company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's Operations.  

Travel Requirements

Up to 15% travel.
