Job Description

Job Summary


Shipping Supervisors provide first line leadership for a team of hourly non-exempt employees on an assigned shift in a Foundry manufacturing environment.  Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Schedule Attainment are key accountabilities and metrics in the performance of this job.  Time and attendance in a Kronos automated payroll system on a daily business to measure labor costs is essential as well.

  • Facilitates meetings, documenting productivity gains and recognizing employees for quality improvement accomplishments, ensuring that production rates are met and standard processes are being followed.
  • Will lead problem solving efforts, coach team members in resolving conflicts and achieving results and provide ongoing training.
  • Goal attainment on Safety, Quality, Productivity and Profitability KPI’s on a regular basis 100 Total Percent (not to exceed 100%)

  • Demonstrated ability in interviewing, coaching, counseling, motivating, training, and communicating objectives.
  • Must have a demonstrated history of high achievement and organized work habits.
  • Must be able to deal with issues with multiple variables such as process improvement and resolution of poor performance on an individual or department basis.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing budgets and capacity.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication across different levels and departments.
  • Effectively manages performance and confronts issues directly.
  • Must be able to assertively involve employees by coaching and facilitating interaction across dept.
  • Must be able to work within a team environment not only within the organization unit but also across departments and shifts.
  • Develops employees by ensuring proper training and providing ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Specifications using identification, data gathering solution development, implementation and follow up skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in on Time Delivery, Shipping Accuracy, Cycle Count Accuracy, and Inventory Accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, change management, and performance improvements

This position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas.  Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a business or supply chain discipline or equivalent work experience is preferred.  Experience in heavy manufacturing and a unionized environment is a plus.  Must have previous experience as a distribution/warehouse/shipping supervisor


Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the company's

Travel Requirements

Up to 5%
