POSITION SUMMARY

This position sets the strategic direction of ASQ's registration activities, event planning, event execution, and reconciliation methods for courses, internal and external conferences, and meetings. Ensures internal and external stakeholder objectives are achieved and financial goals attained.

SCOPE

  • This position is responsible for between 3-5 direct exempt and nonexempt level reports.
  • Partners with Strategic Partnerships and Events Director to ensure event execution can be realized within budget.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Hires, trains, manages and develops qualified staff to effectively carry out event planning. Continuously assess and improves standard work processes leveraged by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with ASQ suppliers, internal and external stakeholders who contract with the Event Management workgroup for services relative to all conferences and meetings. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution with adherence to governance items.
  • Defines criteria, researches vendors, negotiates and executes contracts for all event suppliers to include but not limited to venue, registration, audiovisual, food and beverage, temporary staff, ground transportation, decor and entertainment, exhibits and security.
  • Manages budgets, timelines and responsibilities of team to ensure planning and execution of seamless program while delivering exceptional client service with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Conducts market research and analysis on industry trends, event planning, and professional development.
  • Leads planning processes that include timeline development, coordination, and execution between external stakeholders, workgroups, exhibitors, and sponsors to ensure that all parties have the information and resources to optimize the onsite experience. Works with exhibitors and sponsors to meet contractual obligations, strategic objectives, and brand standards in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

A bachelor's degree in business or related field is required. CMP (Certified Meeting Planner Certification) preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 7-10 years progressive experience in association, hotel or meeting planning; 1 year of people management.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work Condition: Normal Office Environment. 20-25% travel required.

Education

Required

Bachelors or better in Business Administration.
