Job Description
BIOMED TECHNICIAN I

Reporting to the Manager, Depot Service and Repair Operations, the Biomed Technician I performs skilled, technical work in the repair, preventive maintenance and calibration of biomedical devices or systems. Performs technical inspections of these biomedical devices. Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, calibrations, etc. performed on all equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs maintenance, calibrations and/or modifications on biomedical equipment and systems, in accordance with department procedures, manufacturers' recommendations, and/or other applicable codes and standards.
Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, calibrations, etc. performed on all equipment.
Analyzes and repairs biomedical equipment and systems, utilizing established electronic tests and measurement equipment and techniques.
Achieves above average customer satisfaction, with timely turnaround of customer equipment.
Requests and/or orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures and contract relationships.
Provides operational and technical advice on biomedical equipment to medical and clinical staff. Interacts with clinical staff, as needed, to ensure needs are being met.
May assist in the training of medical and clinical staff on the safe and proper use of biomedical equipment.
Provides first line of triage for service failures to both internal and external customers.
Lifts, carries and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, cart, etc.) while utilizing proper technique.
Follows all company safety policies and procedures, immediately reporting potential hazardous situations
Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. However, situational quality-related authority may apply.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Ability to interpret schematics, illustrated parts, diagrams and technical manuals of biomedical  equipment.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, primarily Word, Power Point and Excel.
Excellent verbal (both via phone and in-person) and written communications skills.
Strong customer service focus.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working in an environment subject to Medical Device Directive 93/42 EEC regulations and standards preferred. Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering degree preferred. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS              
The position requires little or no travel (less than 10% of the time). However, some customer contracts may require travel to de-install/install at the site.
