Job Description
The Sr. Manager – Equipment and Services is responsible for overseeing the sourcing of indirect materials, equipment, goods, and services and managing vendors.  This position foster collaboration with critical stakeholder groups such as Operations, Engineering, Maintenance & Pattern Shop and will lead cross-functional teams to uncover and capture new opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvements.

  • Support kaizen teams across the facility when new Indirect procurement requirements emerge from projects
  • Participate in the CAPEX planning process to drive “early involvement” as bid requirements are developed while maintaining a leading role in sourcing and negotiating for all new CAPEX goods & services contracts
  • Effectively manage the supplier base for a wide diversity of Indirect goods, services, equipment and CAPEX
  • Develop and maintain strong category management and marketplace proficiency
  • Understand and apply the appropriate forms of contracts and commercial terms for goods versus services
  • Use progress payments, fee structures, and payment terms suitable to the category of spend
  • Demonstrate well-informed and savvy capability to anticipate changes in the markets
  • Optimize the channel of spend and methods of purchasing for each category  (PO, P-Card, 3rd party, etc)
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency to source & procure plant equipment and supplies
  • Implement and manage a robust system of governance for the MRO-Storeroom Integration program
  • Partner with Finance to create a robust process for measuring and managing MRO inventory
  • Develop and implement the appropriate metrics and processes to monitor PPV and net cost reductions
  • Improve the process for Outside Service Provider (OSP) Sourcing, Selection and Contracting
  • Achieve year-over-year service level and cost improvements with the OSPs
Support Operations and Maintenance to implement a life-cycle improvement program for Mobile Equipment (a 140+ unit fleet of forklifts, front loaders, man lifts, utility carts and other heavy equipment)

  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills in order to persuade others into action and reconcile interpersonal conflict required
  • Must be able to deal with issues with multiple variables such as process improvement and resolution of poor performance on an individual or department basis
  • Demonstrated ability in managing budgets and capacity
  • Knowledge of distribution principles, manufacturing processes and quality control concept
  • Critical thinking skills in order to analyze information and data and suggest alternative solutions to problems
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with others while also engaging in active listening
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time in order to accomplish work tasks in a timely manner
  • Must be able to work within a team environment not only within the organization unit but also across departments and shifts

Education and Experience Requirements
 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Supply Chain, Business or Engineering discipline or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of five years of professional purchasing experience is required.  Experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.  An MBA and or professional certifications are a strong plus:  CPM, CPSM, CSM, CPSD, or APP.



Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the company's Human Resources operations.  

Travel Requirements

Up to 20% travel anticipated.
