Shift: Shift 1

Responsibilities:
The Injury Prevention & Outreach Coordinator position's primary responsibility is the coordination and evaluation of hospital injury prevention initiatives and outreach education to institutions, agencies and individuals within the region for the purpose of improving the care of the injured patient. Utilization of the hospital trauma registry data, regional & national initiatives will be done to develop programs for decreasing traumatic injury. Maintenance of relationships with pre-hospital care providers and incorporating their involvement in injury prevention initiatives will be required. The Injury Prevention Coordinator reports to the Trauma Program Manager. Other duties as assigned.

Summary:
Two years of experience in trauma or emergency nursing or injury prevention is required.

Previous teaching experience is required.

Knowledge in injury prevention and EMS principles is required.

TNCC & ATCN instructor preferred.

Bachelor in Nursing degree is required.

Master's degree is preferred.

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 3 months of hire. Certification in Emergency Nursing or Critical care preferred.

Other information:
Excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills.

Skills in oral and written communications, human relations and public speaking.

Ability to develop educational curricula and teach programs directed to injury prevention and trauma education.

Self-directed and resourceful in problem solving.
