JMT is seeking a highway design intern who will work closely with experienced Design and Project Engineers to carry out an array of assigned tasks. Duties include, but are not limited to, assembling data and assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of small, medium, and large-sized engineering projects, providing quantity take-offs and construction estimates, specification development or preparation, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.

In 1979, JMT entered the public works market by focusing on transportation engineering for Federal, state and local public agencies. Over time, JMT extensively diversified both our service offerings and our client base.

Today, JMT provides consulting services to a wide variety of public and private entities.? This diversification of markets and services has resulted in considerable geographic expansion from our original office in Silver Spring, Maryland, to strategically located offices across the United States.

Required Experience
  • Full time student at the Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate level pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or closely related
  • Experience using Microstation and InRoads software preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Hours are flexible around class schedule.

The internship will be full-time 40 hour work week during UD's January session. Opportunity available to work part-time during the Spring semester depending on course load and schedule.
