The Department-like-body of Translation & Interpreting Studies is actively engaged in research activities on campus and collaborates with researchers across the world. The mission of Translation & Interpreting Studies is to meet the diverse needs of the community, state, region and nation for outstanding researchers and practitioners in translation, interpreting, and language services in our digital age. The TIS program array trains students to be effective researchers, scholars, educators, and practitioners in Translation & Interpreting Studies by integrating the methodical study of translation & interpreting (applied and theoretical), the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative approaches to the relevance of literature and the humanities to our globalized world.
The position serves as the primary administrative support for the Department of Translation & Interpreting Studies, and it also has a component of serving the Foreign Languages and Literature Department as part of a task-sharing arrangement. Reporting to the TIS Department Chair, this position has delegated authority for management of daily operations within TIS and serves as primary liaison for TIS between its Chair, faculty, teaching staff, students, the college and campus administration.
