Job Description

LEAN MANUFACTURING INTERN

PRIMARY DUTIES

*Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Techniques including Waste Observation and Elimination, Standardized Work, Problem Solving, Hour by Hour boards, and Value Stream Mapping Activities

*Participate in Process Management Teams to assist with input/output test development, critical process variable monitoring, and other quality focused activities.

*Participate in cross-functional lean Kaizen events to broaden expertise and apply lean methods to eliminate waste

*Participate in the coordination of periodic updates of progress during events

*Use Lean techniques to aid in performance of process reviews and establishing standardized work procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

*Must be enrolled at a 4-year accredited university/college and current student pursuing a degree in an Engineering field, Operations Management, or related studies.

*Desired cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale.

*Ability to work minimum 20 hours beginning March, 2017 through Summer, 2017.

*Ability to evaluate and analyze information and provide creative solutions.

*Must be willing to work on the shop floor in a steel mill environment.
