Job Description ESC has several openings for Assistant Teacher’s with our premier corporate client’s Child Development Center (CDC). The Assistant Teacher is an entry-level role for an individual with a passion for working with children and a willingness to obtain an Early Childhood Certification. The Assistant Teacher assists in the daily care of the children in the Center; assuming the role of Primary Teacher when replacing the Primary Teacher in the classroom for lunch breaks, planning times, vacations, etc. and assisting in housekeeping, organizing, food service, project preparation and other general Child Development Center (CDC) activities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES FOLLOW CENTER POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND STATE LICENSING RULES AND REGULATIONS
Maintain safety, care, and nurturance of children at all times
Uphold/implement Creative Curriculum set forth by the Primary Teachers and follow Developmentally Appropriate Practices
Uphold WMELS guidelines
Accurately track children in your care and maintain appropriate teacher/child ratios during the course of your shift
Assist Primary Teachers in maintaining a classroom environment that meets all State and organization policies/procedures
MAINTAIN NECESSARY CERTIFICATION TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES
Attend all staff meetings and recommended/required training
Meet yearly continuing education requirements
Ensures necessary documentation around First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training is met on a bi-annual basis
PROVIDE QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS AT EACH INTERACTION
Treat all the children with dignity and respect
Maintain confidentiality of the children and parents
Work well with fellow associates and supervisors to ensure the needs of the children are met
Write notes on the Daily Connect App relaying information to the parents from the Primary Teacher and/or from the parents to the Primary Teacher as the need arises and charting all diaper changes, feedings, and naps
Greet parents and children throughout the center
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Early Childhood I certified
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
If hired, Drug Screen, Health Exam and TB test required
PREFERRED
Early Childhood II certified
Educational background in Early Childhood
80 full days (or 120 half days) working experience in a licensed childcare facility
First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training
Fundamentals of Infant/Toddler Development Certified
Shaken Baby Syndrome Certified
Child Abuse/Neglect Certified
Customer service experience
Regular attendance is key to performing the job
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel from Site 1 to Site 2 to Summer Camp when applicable
Able to lift 40lbs
Standing, sitting, squatting, bending, twisting, walking, and moving at a fast pace
