Job Description

Broadwind Energy is seeking a Fabrications Inspectors on 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday 3pm to 1am) to join our team in Manitowoc, WI. The main focus of the Fabrications Inspector is to examine the various welds and ensure product meets Broadwind and customer requirements and specifications throughout the production process. This role will perform a wide variety of tests to be sure the necessary quality criteria and any customer related issues/problems are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)

Ensure customer quality requirements are being met by managing the following responsibilities

*Quality checks through the use of calipers, protractors, height gauges, gauge pins, thread gauges, tape measures, and radius gauges to inspect parts

*Verify product conformance through extensive use of CMM

*Reading and analyzing blueprints, manuals, verifying measurements and understanding GD&T terms and application.

*Participate in design reviews, APQP, PPAP and CAR cross functional teams to ensure that conformance to specifications, measurability, reliability, safety and quality system objectives are met

*Train Quality and Production Associates as needed to run CMM programs

*Record test data and prepare inspection reports as necessary

*Initiate evaluation/development of improved techniques for the control of quality, reliability and safety.

*Reviews and stays informed of ISO requirements, comments and updates

*Assist with other projects as needed or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications

*High school diploma/GED required

*Associate's degree in quality, inspection, welding or related field is preferred

*2+ yrs. welding experience or inspection of welds or a combination of education and experience may be considered

*1 yr. minimum using a form of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), Faro is desired

*Applicable and extensive experience with blueprint reading ability, GD&T terms and application REQUIRED

*Has worked in an environment with customer established deadlines requiring sense of urgency

*Additional education in quality related courses and problem solving techniques (i.e. Statistical Process Control, good manufacturing practices and Statistical Quality Control) are a plus

*Able to flex hours if required to meet customer deadline

Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability

*Familiar with processes related to steel structure fabrication and machining

*Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, and can communicate effectively using e-mail

*Understands the necessity of following exact process or work instructions and the consequences of short cuts

*Able to maintain confidentiality of records and information

*Comprehends the need for complete and accurate documentation

*Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and cost effectiveness

*Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities

*Knowledge of computerized information systems used in quality applications

*Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project

*High level of accuracy is required

*Sense of urgency and accountability
