Talent Development Team
The Talent Development Team works to ensure that Rocketship develops and retains outstanding school-based staff. This team is responsible for designing programming and systems to support strong pipelines of school-based instructional staff and leaders.

The Position
Reporting to the Senior Director of Talent, the The Associate Director (AD) of Talent Development will work directly on one of our top organizational priorities: talent development of school based staff. In this position, the AD will directly impact Rocketship's future talent pipeline through program design and implementation, talent planning and processes, and managing external partnerships. Currently, Rocketship employs nearly one hundred school leaders and over 350 teachers. These critical staff members are at the heart of our mission to eliminate the achievement gap and our ability to support and develop them over time is critical to our mission and growth. The AD of Talent Development will lead the following Talent initiatives:

Teacher Leadership Program Design and Implementation ("Rising Leaders")
    • Create competency-driven scope and sequence maps for programming
    • Align program vision with principal managers and principals
    • Design and facilitate select sessions; train local facilitators as needed
    • Design selection models and select cohorts
    • Set vision and direction for teacher leader projects and campus-based opportunities
    • Communicate directly with candidates and participants to support program engagement.
Talent Development Systems and Processes
    • Design talent reviews processes and talent pipeline planning
    • Design and execute internal transfer processes for school leaders
    • Lead internal selection of instructional hourly staff who wish to move into classroom teaching positions
    • Lead Talent Development team knowledge management and codification of program content
    • Drive additional projects to support internal staff development, retention, and promotion

Teacher Residency Program Partnerships and Implementation
    • Set teacher residency vision and models in collaboration with regional leaders
    • Lead partnerships with external residency programs
    • Establish metrics to monitor and assess program effectiveness
    • Lead internal residency selection processes
Talent Development Programming Design and Support
    • Design content on management and/or adult leadership for Rocketship Leadership Labs programming (school and network leadership development programming)
    • Create system and platform for school and organizational leaders to access all Leadership Development content and materials to support organizational learning
    • Research and select vendors or programs for live or virtual compliance trainings

Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Ability to design group and one on one programming that engages and inspires participants
    • Excellent oral and written communication
    • Ability to invest diverse stakeholders across multiple teams without direct authority
    • Experience collaborating on complex projects across teams and or regions to invest and align diverse stakeholders
    • Experience planning and managing complex projects
    • Outstanding skills in problem solving and critical thinking
    • Experience facilitating professional development for educators (preferred)
    • An entrepreneurial spirit; high degree of comfort launching new programming in a new role and adapting to changing needs
    • Demonstrated knowledge of, and support for, Rocketship's mission, vision, and model
    • An unwavering belief in the potential of all students to learn and the responsibility of teachers to unlock that potential
    • Strong organization skills
    • A minimum of three years of experience in K-12 education
    • Experience designing and/or leading effective professional development opportunities for educators
    • Content knowledge of leadership skill-building and/or management
    • A minimum of two years of experience leading or managing teams (preferred)
    • Experience interviewing and hiring staff (preferred)
    • Experienced as an assistant principal, dean, instructional coach, or principal (preferred)
    • Authorized to work in the United States

Location
Redwood City or San Jose, CA (preferred); Oakland, CA; Milwaukee, WI; Washington, DC; or Nashville, TN. Travel 4-8 times per year to Rocketship regions.
