The Health Plans Analyst is a key internal subject matter expert and resource for the Sales and Account Management staff for all functions related to Stop Loss Coverage. The Health Plans Analyst provides high level customer service and sales support to Stop Loss Carriers, Brokers and Clients. This position also provides complete technical support to all internal departments on questions related to Stop Loss coverage. *Position location - Options will be considered regarding a flexible work location arrangement
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares and reviews Requests for Proposals for both new and renewal business and obtains any additional information needed for quotation
Completes quotation requirements with accuracy and timeliness
Creates stop loss proposals for both new business and renewal business
Obtains, negotiates and creates stop loss and transplant proposals within deadlines and specifications for new and renewal business
Uses high level understanding of Stop Loss Underwriting process to aggressively negotiate stop loss pricing.
Understands and interprets plan document and stop loss contract language
Provides complete technical support to internal departments on questions related to Stop Loss coverage.
Creates strategies with Sales & Account Management teams for new business acquisition and account retention
Coordinates Customer and Broker signature of all contracts
Maintains and builds new relationships with Stop Loss Carriers and Brokers
Conducts data analysis of loss history, medical trend, and risk for new and existing business
Prepares reports and spreadsheets related to Stop Loss topics
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, or related field preferred with 3-5 years experience in health insurance (Sales, Account Management, Claims or Underwriting)
Associate Degree in Business, Insurance, or related field required with 7 years experience in health insurance (Sales, Account Management, Claims or Underwriting)
Technical Knowledge, Licensure, or Certifications
State of Wisconsin Health & Accident Insurance License (current or as a condition of ongoing employment)
Group Benefits Associate (GBA) Certification is a plus
Specific Technical Skills or Competencies
Demonstrates strong sales support skills through building and sustaining business relationships with Sales Executive, Stop Loss Carriers and Brokers
Effective problem-solving skills relating to stop loss new business, renewal business and claims dispute
Maintains high level knowledge of stop loss insurance markets, contract requirements, products and policies
Highly professional business demeanor in working with Sales, Stop Loss Carriers and Brokers.
Strong organizational, time management, project management and multi-tasking skills to meet competing deadlines
High level Customer Service orientation in providing and meeting the needs of internal and external customers
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
