Job Description
Summary: Under the supervision of the Melt Supervisor, the Shakeout Operator is responsible for shaking out the poured molds and removing the molds from the sand in order for the Molders to have room to mold.
Educational Background: Education generally equivalent to a high school diploma is preferred.
Work Experience Needed.- One to three years of verifiable work history. Foundry Experience is preferred.

  • Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Active Listening skill- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • A forklift training certificate is required
Nature & Scope-Princival Areas of Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deem necessary from time to time,
 
  1. Dumps molds onto shaker pan so that the molds can move down the shaker.
  2. Clears deck so that molders have room to mold.
  3. Places castings onto pallets or steel tubs with the assistance of a forklift and a hoist.
  4. Shoveling sand out of the pit on a daily basis.
  5. Transports castings to blast staging area.
  6. Collects and dumps shakeout sand onto sand pile.

POSITION: Shakeout Operator
  1. Places hold tags on poured molds, informing supervisor where they are located,
  2. Maintains a clean and safe working environment.

The employee is regularly required to lift up to 75 lbs and is frequently required to lift items that weigh more than 75 lbs with the assistance of a crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, works in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and frequently works in wet, humid conditions (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions and occasionally works in extreme cold and hot conditions (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually wry loud.
