Summary: The purpose of positions in this classification is to ensure that customers are provided with the proper assistive technology devices, products and services to meet their needs.

*Performs customer assessments at facility or at customer homes. Assesses the customer’s mode of mobility, mobility skills and mobility needs for different environments. Identifies the customer’s daily activities. Measures and fits customers for equipment based upon assessment information.

*Educates customers on assistive technology product options, insurance guidelines and the process of obtaining devices.

*Researches and compiles product options. Configures unusual product for individuals with unique or complex seating and mobility needs.

*Demonstrates equipment as needed and as available.

*Prepares necessary documentation such as order forms, quotes, product information, justification letters, etc. Conducts follow-up to obtain necessary documentation including physician authorizations. Maintains contact with customers, referral sources, etc.

*Generates set-up guidelines.

*Drives to customer homes for delivery of equipment. Loads and unloads equipment; Delivers and picks up equipment; Sets up and modifies equipment for customers needs.

*Performs final fittings upon delivery. Trains customers, caregivers, family members and others in the use and maintenance of the equipment.

*Provides follow-up support to customers to ensure that equipment meets their needs and to answer questions.

POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of positions in this classification is to ensure that customers are provided with the
proper assistive technology devices, products and services to meet their needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

· Performs customer assessments at facility or at customer homes. Assesses the

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES
· Performs minor vehicle maintenance tasks.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent with vocational training in a health related field and one to
two years assistive technology service, preferably in a home health environment or any
education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Assistive Technology Supplier (ATS) certification required.
Occupational Therapy training desirable.
Must maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license, safe driving record, proof of current auto
insurance, and access to a car in good working condition.

LOSS OF LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION
Any loss of licensure or certification may affect employment status.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Requires knowledge of assistive technologies and their functioning.
Requires basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology.
Requires knowledge of insurance sources, procedures and documentation and other types of
available funding.
Computer Skills:
Ability to use a computer for e-mail, data inquiry, data entry and wordprocessing.

Basic computer skills in software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, home medical equipment
billing software and rehab software.
Human Interaction:
Ability to exchange, explain, demonstrate and clarify information for others within established
polices, procedures and standards.
Ability to demonstrate and instruct patients in proper equipment usage.
Ability to interact in a polite and courteous manner when interacting with customers and
others.
Data Utilization:
Ability to compile, copy, record and compute data.
Ability to use descriptive data and information such as manufacturer product catalogs and
OSHA, HIPAA, and Medicare regulations.
Equipment Utilization:

Ability to demonstrate, fit, and operate a variety of rehab equipment such as manual
wheelchairs, power wheelchairs and scooters.
Mathematical Aptitude:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide for configuring wheelchairs.
Ability to calculate decimals and percentages for determining retail cost differences.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and the ability to adjust focus.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The position requires that the employee spend the majority of his/her time indoors.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dusts and
interruptions and occasionally exposed to infectious disease, body wastes/fluids, odors and
inadequate lighting.
Regular exposure to inclement weather conditions associated with travel to customer
locations.

CRITICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

LIFT1 Lifts seat off wheelchair to do repairs. Requires lifting 50 pounds from 0 to 30
inches and carrying 3 feet. Performs up to 2 times in 5 minutes and 6 times
per day.

LIFT2 Lifts chair back from shelf. Requires lifting 10 pounds from 0 to 80 inches.
Performs up to 2 times in 5 minutes and 6 times per day.

LIFT3 Lifts ramp out of van. Requires lifting 42 pounds from 0 to 47 inches. Performs
up to 2 times in 5 minutes and 8 per day.

LIFT4 Lifts battery off from shelves. Requires lifting 43 pounds from 0 to 57 inches.
Performs up to 3 times in 5 minutes and 6 per day.

CARRY Carries field service kit with one arm. Requires 1 arm carrying of up to 20
pounds for 100 feet.

PUSH Pushes wheelchair into van. Requires push forces up to 110 pounds for 3 feet.
Performs 1 time in 5 minutes and up to 4 times per day.

PULL Pulls wheelchair out of van. Requires pull forces of up to 110 pounds for 3
feet. Performs 1 time in 5 minutes and up to 4 times per day.

GRIP Grips to perform chair modifications Requires grip forces up to 70 pounds.

STAIRS Climbs stairs to perform assessments in client homes. Requires walking up
stairs of varied height and numbers into clients' homes.

LADDER Climbs ladder to get equipment in warehouse. Requires climbing up 8 10 inch
rungs.

STAND Stands when working at workbench. Requires standing up to 10 minutes
continuously and 30 minutes per day.

WALK Walks for evals and deliveries. Requires walking up to 5 minutes continuously
and 30 minutes per day. At times will be on icy sidewalks while delivering
chairs to homes.

SIT Sits on way to evaluations and for deskwork. Requires sitting up to 2 hours
continuously and 6 hours per day.

POSITIONS Requires prolonged arm outreach and cervical flexion when doing
assessments.
