Position/Internship Description

Job/Project Description:
Join the School & Youth Programs team! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s School & Youth programs include: Pennies for Patients, Pasta for Pennies and Hops. All are service learning projects run in schools throughout Wisconsin from January to March each year. In the Pennies programs students make “change” one penny at a time by bringing spare change to school. In the Hops program students collect donations and then “hop” for a cure.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Communication with schools through eNewsletters, email, phone calls, and website
• Developing program materials
• Event promotion through media contacts
• Creating, securing and tracking news releases, PSAs and mentions in media for event promotion
• Coordinating and managing mailings to schools
• Working with School & Youth telerecruiters
• Recruiting schools to participated through various marketing pieces

Experience/ Skills Desired:
Time Required: At least 8 hours per week
Skills Needed to be successful with School & Youth Programs:
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong organizational skills
• Detail-oriented
• Able to work on multiple tasks
• Independent worker within a team environment
• Computer literate with Microsoft Office Applications
• Positive and Energetic Attitude
• Interest in Graphics/layout (preferred, not required)
• Interest in working with youth and education environments (preferred, not required)
