Responsibilities
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide full range of banking services and manage relationships for small and low-end middle market business, with emphasis on client contact, sales and service. The level I relationship manager operates with limited lending authority and account specialization.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, commensurate experience will also be considered.
5 - 7 years of business or commercial banking.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: (List in order of importance)
Focus on Expanding Market Coverage
Manage Client Relationships
Identify business/business banking needs and recommend ways in which the bank can expand and deepen their current relationships and still serve their individual needs.
Resolve issues and problems to maintain positive client relationships.
Analyze credit and financial information of small business in order to provide better service or to offer bank products accordingly.
Develop, retain and expand banking relationships with high value clients by tailoring financial solutions to satisfy specific client needs.
Manage portfolio to a high standard of credit quality and in a timely manner.
Manage business relationships on a proactive basis.
Manage exceptions, delinquencies and NSFs risk rated 6 and worse.
Identifies deeper penetration opportunities within existing portfolio.
Thoroughly understand and explain banking products and services to clients.

Critical Linkages
Identify critical linkage partners and work with them on a proactive basis.
Cross sale of all M&I products and services to ensure that customers needs are met.
Make referrals as appropriate.
Aggressively identifies and pursues Critical Linkage opportunities throughout the Bank Treasury Mgmt., Merchant Card, Wealth Mgmt., Mortgage, etc.

Business Development
Call on existing customers to develop new business or increase or retain existing business.
Relies on coordinator for routine daily operating needs, e.g., draws, customer service, and credit administration
Be involved in community activities to enhance M&Is presence and product visibility.
Complete analysis, documentation and closings for new and renewal commitments
Successfully executes booking of net new names to M&I:
oStrategic prospect identification
oExecution of high quality call programs
oIdentify potential new opportunities
oDraft customer solutions
oOversee LP prep and complete underwriting by leveraging analyst resources
oEngage in internal negotiations and develop consensus in support of credit structure and pricing
oPresent to committee; secure approval
oPresent, negotiate and secure customers acceptance
oOversee document origination, negotiation, close and funding

Credit Administration
Manage a loan portfolio and ensure loan credit quality.
Gather proper information in accordance with the credit approval process and to fulfill legal requirements.
Rely on Analysts & Coordinators for new and renewal documentation, analysis and closings as assigned
Review financial data and maintain proper documentation of all business relationships.
Manage compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act through the review of loans submitted by minority and disadvantaged companies. Compliance with CRA also includes the education of these minority prospects and customers on our services and how they work.
Assist training Bankers & Analysis
Responsible for timely updates to MiContact and Credit Quality reporting
Complete required Banker training
Participate in projects at the direction of local and executive management
Other duties may be assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, commensurate experience will also be considered.
6 - 7 years of business or commercial banking.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Solid knowledge of financial statement analysis and generally accepted accounting principles.
Solid knowledge of loan policy, business lending guidelines and loan structure, and loan documentation.
