Position Description
POSITION PURPOSE
Facilitates community leadership and volunteer involvement in the fundraising activities of the Medical College of Wisconsin with a primary emphasis on special event implementation. Responsible for securing nearly $500,000 in philanthropic funds annually through event participation, sponsorship, auctions, raffles and a goal of $500,000 in traditional fundraising, major gifts, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Maintain the digestive Disease Center Advisory Board, which includes developing annual and long-term strategic plans, development and maintaining budget, facilitating prospective member identification and recruitment, working with faculty to ensure appropriate interface, maintaining Advisory Board membership and providing support to volunteer driven special events.
2. Coordinate the Digestive Disease Center/LPGA Pro-Am and EMT Golf Tournaments including: organizing committee meetings, preparing budget and operational goals, creating marketing materials, soliciting golf sponsors, foursomes and auction gifts, volunteer recruitment and database management. Secures underwriting for the events.
3. Coordinate the annual Health Care Dinner including: organizing committee meetings, preparing budget and operational goals, creating marketing materials, securing speaker(s), soliciting sponsors, volunteer recruitment and database management. Secures underwriting for the event.
4. If appropriate, coordinate the Lennon Symposium including: organizing committee meetings, preparing budget and operational goals, creating marketing materials, soliciting sponsors, volunteer recruitment and database management. Secures underwriting for the event.
OTHER DUTIES
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in related field of organizing special events, motivating community leaders as volunteers, knowledge of golf preferred.
Certifications/Licenses: CFRE preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. Must be proficient in Microsoft word and Excel programs. String critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Ability to plan and organize work according to established priorities and complete assignments accurately with established timeframes. Demonstrates cooperation, courtesy and consideration when working effectively with varied people. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Understanding of and adherence to confidentiality issues.
