Position Description
Westside Healthcare Association, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, which administers two primary health care clinics, is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to join our team.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Retrieve and or file medical records in patients charts according to filing guidelines.
Respond to request for records (prioritize request) and follow state and federal guidelines for release of information (incoming and outgoing).
Process new patient charts (make sure all filing is in chart and in order) before delivering charts to designated area.
Maintain and utilizes a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems.
Operate computer to process, store, and retrieve health information.
Pull charts for audit. (i.e. insurance company, state and medical)
Actively participate in team and company meetings.
Perform miscellaneous other duties in department and company as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Knowledge of medical terminology and be accurate, concise and detailed-oriented.
Basic computer skills, i.e. understanding of functions of screens, fields, and keyboard.
Ability to communicate effectively and confidentially on all levels.
Proven record of stable work history and excellent attendance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to:
Lift and reach for light objects; close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; ability to type utilizing a computer keyboard; ability to travel to outside locations; and the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function.
