Position Description
Westside Healthcare Association, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, which administers two primary health care clinics, is seeking a dynamic professional to join our Medical Assistant team.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Greets, assesses and interviews patient. Obtains past medical and surgical history. Family history, social history and complete set of vital signs. Reviews current medications, allergy history, chief complaint and
brief interrogation of complaint.
Review patient charts for completeness, as well as order processing, for referrals, lab, x-ray, etc.
Inform scheduled patients of any delays due to physician's lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc.
Log patient information in respective data banks, i.e., State Immunization Tracking System, Diabetic Tracking System, etc.
Prepares and assists patient for examination/treatment/procedure by medical staff.
Collect clinic encounter forms at the end of each session and forward to the Billing Department.
Maintain supply and inventory for exam room, in accordance with clinic and OSHA requirements.
Anticipates need for assessment and monitoring of patients prior to and during examination, treatment, emergency, acute illness or procedure.
Acts as liaison between doctor and patient.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Provides a caring environment. Able to deal empathetically with patients’ needs and questions. Must be an excellent verbal communicator and projects a professional image.
Responds to patients concerns in person or by telephone while simultaneously assessing and documenting problem.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED with training and/or courses as a Medical Assistant or Nurses Aide.
Bilingual Spanish/English applicants strongly encourage to apply.
One year of training in a clinic or physician’s office.
Basic computer skills, i.e. understanding of functions of screens, fields, and keyboard.
Highly motivated, self-disciplined and have excellent communication skills.
Customer service experience in an environment with significant and frequent opportunities to effectively resolve problems and conflict situations.
Proven record of stable work history and excellent attendance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to:
Lift and reach for light objects; close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; ability to type utilizing a computer keyboard; ability to travel to outside locations; and the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function.
