Position Description
Opportunity Snapshot:
Wells is a leading provider of engine management replacement parts. Our Engineering group is expanding as we enhance our capacity to assemble more part numbers at our manufacturing plants. Due to this growth, we are looking for an additional Manufacturing Engineer. You will be teamed up with a Manufacturing Engineer our Reynosa, Mexico facility and have an assigned drafter, forming a three person team. The team will report to the Fond du Lac Engineering Manager.
• You will work on cross-functional teams during the development phase of products to incorporate manufacturability/assembly features into the product and will have co-responsibility with the other engineer on your team for the successful transition of these parts to production at our Reynosa, Mexico facility.
• You will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to manufacturing production processes through identification of assembly and other production requirements and applying knowledge of production processes, (automated, semi-automated and manual assembly, and associated equipment and tools), used in high volume small parts assembly. This includes identifying tools, equipment, and facility changes required, cost justification of the changes, and if necessary, participates in the installation of such to support product schedules.
• This engineering team will also support manufacturing on existing production regarding manufacturing issues.
What you need to bring to the Table:
• You will need a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a small parts production environment with strong mechanical and machine integration experience. You must have hands-on work experience with programming PLC’s, with robotics and with other automated assembly elements (feeder bowls, stepper motors, sensors, robotics) and a strong assembly background.
• You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project planning skills as well as being able to multitask and consistently meet project deadlines.
• You will need experience using a CAD system (we use SolidWorks) and intermediate experience with Word and Excel.
• Prefer engineers with TS16949 or ISO experience. (We are TS and ISO certified)
• May require occasional travel.
