COLLEGE INTERN
Department of Administration – Community Development Grants Administration
PURPOSE:
The College Intern is assigned to assist in a variety of functions involving the administration of the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Grant on a part-time basis while enrolled in college.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collect and process various reports, documents and data on all projects.
Prepare payment documents for sub recipients, review contract information.
Review and analyze all data collection for reporting requirements by HUD.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Currently enrolled as a Sophomore or higher in academic status at an accredited college or university.
Transcripts Required
Valid driver’s license.
Residence in the City of Milwaukee within six months of appointment and throughout employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and tactfully with the public.
Ability to follow through on assignments and long-term projects.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

CURRENT SALARY (910):
$9.51 hourly with possible increases up to $12.47 per hour. College Interns are not entitled to receive benefits.
This position is grant-funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Funding is expected to expire on September 30, 2012.
THE SELECTION PROCESS will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: an evaluation of related training, experience and accomplishments; written, or performance tests; interview; or other assessment methods. The Department of Employee Relations and the hiring department reserve the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral, performance tests or personal interviews. Oral examinations may include written exercises.
THE EXAMINATION will be held as soon as practical after November 20, 2009. Receipt of applications may be discontinued at any time after this date without prior notice; however recruitment may continue until the needs of the City have been met. Qualified applicants will be notified by mail of the date, time and location of the examination.
