Position Description
Opportunity Snapshot:
Wells is a leading provider of engine management replacement parts. Our Fond du Lac engineering group is expanding as we enhance our capacity to assemble more part numbers at our manufacturing plants. Due to this growth, we are looking for an additional Project Engineer. You will be teamed up with a Drafter/Designer to form a two person team. These teams report to the Engineering Manager. Our project engineers:
• Design electro-mechanical assemblies that are OE equivalent in fit, form and function. A typical assembly will have 6-20 parts. For manufactured product you will assist with the development of manufacturing processes. For purchased parts, you will interface with the supplier’s engineering function to insure the parts meet all requirements.
• Support manufacturing on existing production regarding manufacturing issues.
• Provide support to Purchasing by determining if vendor-supplied sample parts (finished end assemblies) are OEM equivalent.
• You will have drafter and engineering lab support.
What you need to bring to the Table:
• You will need a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in product development. This experience needs to include designing basic assemblies containing injection molded, machined and stamped parts. Exposure to die cast parts a plus.
• Must have several years of electro-mechanical product development experience. This should include maintaining responsibility for the product through first production runs. Experience with switches or switch-like assemblies preferred.
• You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to multitask and meet project deadlines.
• You will need experience using a CAD system (we use SolidWorks) and intermediate experience with Word and Excel.
• Prefer engineers with TS16949 or ISO experience. (We are TS and ISO certified)
• May require occasional travel.
