Position Description
VP of Finance
A premier nationally recognized non-profit organization seeks an experienced finance professional.
The Vice President of Finance provides support to the organization by developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and programs relating to financial and administrative operations.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Certified Public Accountant Certificate preferred Five or more years of management experience in accounting Experience in an accounting environment with strong use and understanding of computers, including software and hardware, as well as knowledge of human resources is required Prior management experience within a non-profit environment is preferable but not required.
Essential responsibilities:
Direct the preparation and maintenance of all accounting and financial records, reports and systems including the General Ledger, Financial Statements and forecasts. Provide and file financial reports and information to Senior Management, the Executive Director, Board of Directors/Trustees, government agencies and others as required.
Develop, plan and direct activities which safeguard assets, maximize positive cash flow and minimize credit required while maintaining vendor relations.
Coordinate the preparation of financial operating plans, budgets and forecasts with staff for board approval. Analyze actual and project results against approved operating plans.
Direct activities of the Information Systems & Technology consultant and Human Resources Administrator.
Develop, implement and monitor accounting policies and procedures to comply with generally accepted accounting principles and statutory requirements. Direct the preparation for audits and provide interface with outside auditors.
Act as resource to Boards of Directors/Trustees, staff and volunteers in areas of finance, accounting, insurance, benefits, equipment, systems and legal matters.
Manage the Board Finance and Audit Committee and serve on the Strategic Planning Committee.
Develop the strategy and direct the maintenance and updates of all systems and technology.
Develop and direct the administration of all employee benefits.
Monitor personnel policies and procedures, ensuring legal compliance.
Manage office operations including the procurement and maintenance of office space and equipment.
