TAX ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities:
•Prepare and file various state Sales & Use tax returns
•Analyze vendor invoices to determine proper Sales & Use tax assessments
•Ensure all Sales & Use tax liabilities are paid timely and accurately
•Support requests for or questions concerning exemption certificates
•Prepare, document and file property tax returns
•Analyze and document the financial information needed for the preparation and support of Sales & Use tax, property tax and corporate income tax filings
•Maintain the fixed asset system and make entries to record activity in the general ledger
•Prepare spreadsheets to document and support tax filing positions
•Perform tax research to determine the taxability of certain transactions, support tax return positions, and/or ensure proper compliance with prescribed rates and applicable laws and regulations
•Perform financial accounting duties, such as journal entries and reconciliations
•Assist with various tax audits
•Perform other accounting activities and special projects

Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required
•Must possess 1-3 years experience in a tax accounting role, with a primary focus in Sales & Use tax
•Must have experience in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) applications
•Experience with tax research and preparation software preferred
•Working knowledge of financial statements (income, balance sheet, cash flows)
•Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
