Position Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
30% - Pre-Sale Consulting: Competitive Influence
•Assist sales staff in developing a territory growth plan by providing local knowledge on education issues, trends and opportunities
•Support and participate in competitive shoot-outs -- especially those requiring subject-matter expertise
•Present and participate in local and regional conferences to increase exposure and improve insight

30% - Post-Sale Consulting
•Recommend and support the documented inclusion of SMART products and services in LEA technology plans
•Assist LEA curriculum leaders in supporting the use of SMART products
•Advise on good practices for selection of initial recipients of SMART products
•Recommend tactics for LEA administrators to measure and report on results
•Keep LEA teachers and administrators up to date on new SMART offerings -- and advise sales staff on attachment / up sell opportunities

20% - Pre-Sale Consulting: Influencing Action
•Communicate SMART's brand promise and value proposition in terms of LEA objectives
•Establish relationships with administrators
•Educate key decision-makers, implementers and influencers about the learning outcomes that can be achieved with SMART products and services
•Help educators raise awareness and get buy-in from parent and community organizations
•Present to school boards and administrators on topics such as data-driven instruction, case studies, long-term cost analysis, etc.
•Recommend SEED placements or help craft proof-of-concept projects
•Conduct needs assessments to identify and recommend good practices for technology implementations
•Recommend grant-writing and other funding strategies

10% - Professional Development
•Support LEA leaders in developing a strategic, long-term staff development plan that will create the conditions for success with SMART products
•Recommend changes to existing LEA staff development programs to ensure rapid uptake of SMART offerings
•Refer LEA stakeholders to training offerings on SMART products that best support local needs and constraints
•Deliver training and professional development as needed due to gaps in the offering from SMART, SMART resellers or the LEA itself (e.g. one-hour subject-specific workshops)

10% - Building Communities of Practice
•Organize local or regional user group events so that teachers can share good practices and learn from their peers
•Participate in, and refer teachers to, SMART Exchange and other online communities to increase the scope and scale of available support
•Encourage and help LEAs to include "bottom-up" learning opportunities for teachers using SMART products in their long-term professional development plans
•Assist teachers and administrators in engaging their broader communities in transforming teaching and learning with SMART products

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
•5 years of teaching experience
•Must have been or currently are an educator

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
•Knowledge of SMART Board operations and functionality a plus
•Ability to travel 25% of the time
•Excellent organizational skills a must
•Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal form. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
•Ability to stay current on technology and trends.
