Community Outreach to People with Disabilities

AbilITy Connection provides opportunities and advocacy for people with disabilities for entry into a career in Information Technology (IT). The program offers mentoring, possibility for internships, scholarships, and job placement assistance to IT students with disabilities. The result is a qualified pool of candidates who can help employers meet their growing IT needs.

Assisting individuals with disabilities to live independently, pursue meaningful goals, and have the same opportunities and choices as all people.

Access to Independence promotes the integration of people with disabilities into communities, which have a wealth of opportunities. The mission of Access to Independence is to join with people with disabilities to create access to the community through education, action, and choice.

Advanced Employment, Inc. is a private, non-profit agency that provides services to adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities. Every person should have the opportunity to work in our community. Our mission is to place individuals in community-based jobs that take into account personal strengths and preferences. Our role in the community is to provide the level of training and support each individual requires to attain success in the community. Advanced Employment also sponsors the ACE Program which is a mentoring program.

Our Mission: To create opportunities for people and communities to reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency.

We provide case management, job development and training services in local colleges and technical schools. Dislocated Workers are folks that have been laid off, or, victims of businesses and plant closings looking to get retrained for future employment opportunities. Staff is located in the area Job ∓ Career Work Force Development Centers.

MISSION STATEMENT: To advocate for and help older people and people with physical or developmental disabilities secure needed services or benefits, live with dignity and security, and achieve maximum independence and quality of life. The goal of the Aging and Disability Resource Center program is to empower individuals to make informal choices and to streamline access to services.

We provide information to the general public about services, resources, and programs in areas such as: disability and long-term care related services and living arrangements, health and behavioral health, adult protective services, employment and training for people with disabilities, transportation, home maintenance, nutrition, IRIS and Family Care. Aging and Disability Resource Center staff will provide help to connect people with those services and to also apply for SSI, FoodShare, and Medicaid as needed.

The Aging & Disability Resource Center is dedicated to linking individuals to information, benefits, and services they may need to support their independence, health, and desired living arrangement.

We are a no-cost, single point of contact for information and assistance to residents of Buffalo, Clark and Pepin Counties, all at no cost to you. We can help you sort through all of the options that are available for older adults and adults with disabilities, mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders, along with their family members and caregivers.

The staff of the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Northwest Wisconsin, works with elderly and disabled individuals providing information, assistance and access to services that are available in the community.
