We are currently looking to fill the position of Manager of Accreditation with an individual that possesses an understanding and versatility in the background, structure, policies, and procedures of accreditation programs with a strong technical emphasis in environmental and sustainability programs.

ANAB operates multiple accreditation programs across a wide range of sustainability topics. This includes environmental management systems, supply chain management, stakeholder engagement, climate change, sustainable forestry and biomass, environmental labeling, etc. This position will have a significant role and direct impact on the assessment and accreditation activities of the ANAB-accredited certification and validation/verification bodies. This position can be based out of any ANAB location or Remote (work from home). Overnight travel is required, including both domestic and international travel.

The responsibilities of this role will include both managing accreditation programs and actively conducting accreditation assessments of conformity assessment bodies to multiple international standards. Being an accreditation manager and assessor involves technical knowledge as well as a blend of skills ranging from project management to communication and analytical abilities. Including, but not limited to;

  • Project and Time Management: Ability to plan, execute, and monitor accreditation processes effectively and efficiently in order to meet deadlines, while maintaining relationships with customers and other stakeholders.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing accreditation processes in your field.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that accreditation processes meet high standards and are conducted impartially.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address challenges that arise during accreditation processes and find effective solutions.

  • Attention to Detail: Being meticulous in reviewing documentation and ensuring conformance with accreditation criteria and process.

  • Ethical Conduct: Upholding ethical standards and integrity in accreditation processes.

  • Diplomacy: The ability to balance respect, decisiveness, and tact when dealing with others.

  • Adaptability: Being able to adapt to changes in accreditation standards, regulations, or processes.

  • Documentation Skills: Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of accreditation activities and outcomes.

These skills collectively enable an accreditation manager to successfully oversee the accreditation process and ensure conformance with standards and regulations while maintaining an expected level of customer service.

Candidates must have the following education and experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, business, sustainability, or a related field.

  • Five or more years of conformity assessment, standardization, and/or experience in quality assurance in a related field (e.g. agriculture, forestry, water, waste, energy, greenhouse gas, ESG, environmental management).

  • Experience and demonstrated technical knowledge of sustainability-related certification and/or validation/verification schemes. Skills necessary to interface with customers on the relevant industry standards and requirements of conformity.

  • Sound understanding of multiple sustainability-related frameworks, reporting standards, and industry trends is required.

  • Project management experience with diverse stakeholders.

  • Extensive organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.

  • Ability to manage priorities and critical deadlines with minimal direction.

  • A range of assessment (or auditing) experience to understand the various applications of the certification and validation/verification requirements.

  • Skills necessary to lead a team and projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, and handle problems with respect, decisiveness, diplomacy, and tact.

  • Integrity and confidence and professional demeanor.

  • Understanding of quality principles.

  • Proficiency with Windows, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent keyboarding skills.

  • Ability to gain an understanding of ANAB's management systems and associated tools.

  • Strong writing and communication skills, ability to facilitate meetings with and collaborate with multiple audience types.

  • Understanding of the accreditation business, products, markets, personnel, outside influencers, etc.

  • Demonstrated capacity to embrace continuous learning and change.

  • Ability to manage work under pressure and work within a team to solve problems.
