We are seeking a highly-detail oriented individual to join our team as a Contract Specialist. This is a temporary, full-time position with the potential to become permanent after an initial-6 month period. This role offers a flexible, hybrid work environment, combining remote work with initial on-site training.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing various aspects of contractual agreements, including preparation, compliance, development, review, maintenance, and changes. This includes:

  • Collecting internal data and information to facilitate administrative follow-up

  • Participating in the negotiation process to close business deals effectively

  • Ensuring contract terms are in compliance with applicable regulations and policies

  • Developing and reviewing contracts to meet the needs of all parties involved

Job Description:

The Contract Specialist is responsible for providing a broad range of contracting and related services for Gundersen Health System. This position is responsible for managing the preparation, compliance, development, review, maintenance and changes of contractual arrangements, to include all agreements referred to the department. Collects internal data and information to analyze, evaluate and facilitate administrative follow-up to the performance, operational, and delivery aspects of contracts. Participates in the negotiation process to close business, while managing exposure to risks inherent with all contract documents as requested by next-level leader.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates and prepares required documentation and information in order to analyze and evaluate the financial and administrative impact of arrangements; identifies performance and administrative issues with respect to corporate goals and objectives for the purpose of achieving peak contract performance.

2. Conducts review, negotiation, and implementation of contracts referred to the department for completeness and compliance with corporate policy. Implementation includes participating in audits, reporting per contract requirements and problem solving with other departments...

3. Has ownership, trains and leads other department team members in the data entry process for the department database. Works with IS to create necessary reports, workflows, and answers questions regarding the contracting process.

4. Monitors the performance of existing and/or future relationships using software programs and feedback from internal customers.

5. Assists next level leaders, including senior management and directors in creation and maintenance of contracts for services and bringing services to Gundersen Health System.

6. Researches, organizes and coordinates resolution regarding contractual issues in a timely manner including overseeing the process of contract renewal to ensure clean, workable, and appropriate contracts for Gundersen Health System.

7. Develops and maintains processes to streamline contracting activity and communication of contractual arrangements for Gundersen Health System. This includes coordination with other departments to provide support and ensure contracts are implemented appropriately.

8. Facilitates Administrative meetings with business partners to address contract performance and operational issues. Coordinates with other Gundersen Health System Departments to participate in administrative meetings as necessary.

9. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Business or Legal or Finance or Healthcare Administration or a health related field

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

2-4 years experience in managed care, business, legal studies, health or related field.

DESIRED

6 months experience in a contract management environment.
