Job Description

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, Davidson College Compliance

  • Monitor academic, amateurism, eligibility and financial aid rules of the NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference and Davidson College.
    • Evaluate NCAA initial eligibility.
    • Evaluate transfer transcripts.
    • Monitor and assist with the progress of prospective scholar-athletes and currently enrolled scholar-athletes.
    • Maintain records of scholar-athletes outside competition, employment, and other activities related to amateurism status.
  • Serve as one of the primary liaisons for the Athletic Compliance Office with one or more of the following campus departments: Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar's Office.
    • Monitor and assist with the progress of prospective scholar-athletes through the intuitional admission process.
    • Coordinate receipt and distribution of scholar-athlete transcripts and student records as needed for eligibility and/or waiver purposes.
    • Monitor student accounts as it pertains to athletic and institutional aid and scholarships.
  • Interpret and provide education to scholar-athletes, coaches, athletic staff and representatives of athletics interest on NCAA rules, policies and regulations.
    • Plan and implement a robust education model for coaches.
    • Coordinate and conduct educational sessions with pertinent parties as needed.
    • Provide rules interpretations to coaches and staff as needed.
  • Monitor scholar-athlete NIL activity and provide education of policies when needed.
  • Oversee, audit and review compliance forms, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor new NCAA legislation.
  • Report information required by the NCAA, Atlantic 10 or other conference affiliations.
  • Participate in amateurism/agent's oversight.
  • Participate in the preparation of NCAA squad lists, national letters of internet and financial aid agreements.

Sport Oversight

  • This position will oversee multiple sports and be the primary administrator for those teams and coaches.
    • Perform performance management and development plans.
    • Administer game day duties and provide competition oversight.

Special Projects and Assignments

  • Special projects as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletics Director or other senior level administrators.

Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:

  • Experience with NCAA waivers, monitory, and international student eligibility.
  • Experience working with NCAA Eligibility Center and Compliance Assistant 2.0.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to make decision independently without oversight from supervisors.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing to travel on an occasional basis.
  • The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation, and customer service.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning (a master's degree is preferred).
  • As least three years of working experience in a NCAA athletic compliance office.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules, LSDBi and CA Software (a working knowledge of ARMS is also preferred).
